Tarantulas comprise a group of large and often hairy spiders of the family Theraphosidae. To date, 1,040 species have been identified, with 156 genera. The tarantula is an invertebrate that relies on an exoskeleton for muscular support. It molts periodically wiggling out of the current exoskeleton. I takes a couple days for the new exoskeleton to harden.
Tarantula sizes can range from as small as quarter inch to as large as a dinner plate when the legs are fully extended. Depending on the species, the leg spans of tarantulas range from 3–12 inches.
Tarantulas live 3-30 years, depending on the species. While most Tarantulas species take between two to five years to reach sexual maturity, some species can take up to 10 years. Females typically live longer than males.
Tarantulas are not very active creatures. Sometimes they will just sit in one spot for days at a time. They are more active at night. It is fun to see what they have done; new webbing, moved substrate, or tipped their water dish.
Feeding is very interesting. You feed younger spiders more often. Once they are not the tiny spiderlings they start out as, they get fed once or twice a week. later, as they get older, once a week to once ever two weeks. Many times they will not eat for extended periods of time, sometimes months.

There are a few YouTube spider channels that I have been watching. They may also have Facebook groups. I am not endorsing them, just watching them
